Wolfram Sparber is heading the Institute for Renewable Energy at Eurac Research. Eurac Research is an applied research centre located in Bolzano-Northern Italy. The Institute is active in the field of renewables, energy efficiency and e-mobility and counts over 100 collaborators.
He was chairman of the board of directors of one of the leading renewable energy utilities in Italy (SEL and later Alperia) and served for several years as vice president of the European Technology and Innovation Platform for Renewable Heating and Cooling (ETIP RHC).
By bringing together data and experiences from the electricity, the heating and cooling and the mobility sector he leads projects modelling overall energy systems looking for the country specific most cost effective low carbon technology combinations.
He is regularly invited to conferences in Europe and Asia and contributed to dozens of books and scientific articles in journals and conference proceedings.
Wolfram Sparber studied applied physics at Graz University of Technology and Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona.
