Shantha Bloemen is founding director of Mobility For Africa, a social enterprise start up, wants to bring the electric vehicle revolution to ordinary people, especially women in rural Africa, by providing transport solutions that are reliable, powered on green energy and committed to bringing positive disruptive change to the way people move. The start up is testing the use of a cargo tricycle, the Hamba, an off grid battery swapping model in rural Zimbabwe along with different user models to prove sustainability and scalability. She has a master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and an honors degree in History from University of Western Australia.
