Mzikhona Mgedle, founder and managing director of Langa Bicycle Hub.
Mzkhona is passionate about community development and engaging the youth in community upliftment projects. This is why in 2020 the Langa Bicycle Hub was born
For five years, Mzi worked with Open Streets Cape Town (OSCT) where he learnt about the power of bicycles and community mobilisation. Throughout his years at OSCT, Mzikhona’s role included engaging with diverse stakeholders in various communities around Cape Town. This work often took place in complex environments with factious community dynamics, competing for interest and limited resources.
Now he intends to carry over the expertise and skills he has gained, to Langa Bicycle Hub. The dream for the hub is to be a home for all non-motorised transport needs, including bicycles, wheel-chairs and electric bicycles.
Mzikhona is committed to seeing more bicycles in Langa to promote non-motorised transport, contribute to the reduction of air pollution and combat climate change.
His passion for cycling goes beyond transport. Mzikhona is proud to have completed the 109Km of this year’s Cape Town Cycle Tour 2020. He also enjoys organising social bicycle rides to encourage others to join him in his mission to spark a cycling revolution in Africa.
