To What Extent Can Micromobility Shape Resilient Cities?

  • Thursday, 30 April 2020
  • 12h00 (GMT +2)

Cities are constantly changing and adapting to pressures and requirements from a range of factors. Extreme weather requires its people to take different transport options; a big event in one part of the city puts pressure on public services and the roads, causing congestion; or a terrorist attack creates panic and temporarily stops people using public transport.

Cities are required to be resilient, and to adapt in real time to the changing needs of its inhabitants. The rise of micromobility cannot be ignored, and in fact some might say it is on its way to becoming a mainstream form of mobility for all inhabitants. In this webinar, we will explore to what extent the key role that micromobility will play in shaping the future of resilient cities.

Zeelo is a bus-sharing company, providing transportation services for commuting, schools runs and events; bookable via a mobile app. Zeelo use data and technology to design convenient bus routes in areas of high private car usage that convince people to swap their car for a Zeelo bus; working in partnership with local bus operators and corporations. During the COVID-19 outbreak, Zeelo have pivoted to provide dedicated safe bus transportation services for critical workers including on-board social distancing and measures to control infection risk. With reduced public transport levels and a lack of infection control, Zeelo are now providing this service to companies like Amazon, Ocado, Argos, Colgate and Avara Foods.
